For the first time I'm not being rushed on the computer. It's about 10:30 at night now, and most everyone else is at the Grande Terrasse doing human foosball and making postcards. Speaking of postcards, I need to get some stamps because I have a few postcards to send. Hopefully they'll get there before I get back, but, if not, it's the thought that counts.

The past few days have been interesting, nonetheless. Today I went to Villefranche, which is an old town with a chapel in it, and it was nice. Yesterday, I saw Harry Potter 6! Sadly, it was in French. I dunno what's up with it, but the French people in the movies speak so differently than the French in southern France. They speak faster and link all the words together. It was strange, but I'm gonna see it again when I get back to the states next week.

Back to the states next week! I can't believe it - it's been almost 3 weeks here. I have to admit, I miss the US. I miss the patriotism, the TV shows, the ENGLISH, etc. I'll miss France, but when I come back next time (because I will), I'm going to Paris and northern France. I think I'd like the climate there better - it's colder and it rains, just what I like! :) I don't like sweating...but, it's just something that comes with the package here.

Hi everyone,

I forgot to title my last blog post, so I'll have to edit it and title it later...but, right now, once again, there are about 4 other people in line for the computer and they're telling me to TYPE TYPE TYPE! My France sister, Safia (Fifi) is sitting next to me right now, as well. Today, I went to a greek villa, which was really cool. I also went shopping and my British friend, Lucy, and I had a really nice convesation in french with an old french couple who owned the store we were in. It's suprising how nice the French can be to you if you just speak French! But, of course, they can be pretty snippy if you don't follow their rules.

Other than that, I'm about to go get ready for Le Bal tonight, to celebrate to la fete nationale. Kenggy is now attacking the computer, and my roommate Max is eating. I know, exciting life here on the French Riviera.

A la prochaine!

It's been a while since I posted, but it's been hectic here. Everyday I get up at 7:30 and go to bed at midnight. I have French class from 8:45-12:15, then afternoon activities after lunch. I'm so tired! But, it's a good kind of tired. Je l'aime bien.

Some strange events have been happening of late - I have two stalkers now. One is a girl and one is a boy. But, they keep things interesting. It's more of a game.

Speaking of games, yesterday we had a chasse au tresor (treasure hunt). My team got 4th place because the other nationalities CHEATED *cough*, but we still got a bag of french candies.

Other than these strange recent events, I went to Nice today with my France sister and our friends. I bought a shirt for 5 euros and some postcards. I really need to send those postcards...

Now my fellow AFSers are harassing me to get off because they're oh-so eager to post their blogs. A tout a l'heure!

I arrived in France a few days ago, along with 22 other AFS students and our student advisor, Amy Tuohy. It's a lot different than I thought it would be, at least it is in the place we're staying - the Centre Mediterraneen d'Etudes Francaises. So far, I've been to Monaco, Menton, Cap d'Ail, and Nice. I've only bought food so far, though! Yesterday, in Menton, I bought shaved ice with coca cola in it...it was amazing! It's really hot here, so it was nice.

My french is improving as well - I'm in French level 10, the second from the top of the classes offered here at CMEF. It's pretty fun...french is getting easier.

I'll give another update soon in a few days, hopefully. Wish me luck!

AFS Program

Hey everyone,

This summer, I'm going to travel to France for a month with AFS. The program I'm going to be apart of is the Intensive Language Study program (can't wait!), so I get to learn the French language right in it's native country! I'll be in southern France, in a small town called Cap D'Ail. I've seen pictures, and it looks amazing. I'm really exited :)

It's going to be a great trip, and I hope to come back with a large appreciation for other cultures and differences between us all in general. I only chose to go for a month because this is my first time being out of the US since I was a baby - and that was only to Mexico for a day or two. So, maybe later on in college, I can go back for a semester or so if I really enjoy it. I want to see other countries too, like England, German, Spain, Italy, etc. China would be interesting too, but that's a little longer away I think ;)

Anyways, just for my first post, this is it. Like I've said, I can't wait, and I'll update this blog during my stay as well.
